Fortunoff Backyard Store, a chain of stores specializing in outdoor furniture and decor, is set to open April 1 at the Hamilton Crossings shopping center at North Krocks Road and Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township.

People looking to get their deck, patio or other outdoor oasis in tip-top shape for spring will soon have a new store to help them in Lower Macungie Township.
Fortunoff Backyard Store, a chain of stores specializing in outdoor furniture and decor, is set to open April 1 at the Hamilton Crossings shopping center at North Krocks Road and Hamilton Boulevard, according to a news release.
The space, between Ulta and Old Navy, previously housed home goods retailer Pier 1 Imports, which closed in 2020.
“We’re excited to bring our incredible selection of outdoor furniture to Allentown and to help our customers plan wonderful outdoor gathering spaces for family and friends this spring and summer,” David Barish, chairman and CEO of Fortunoff Backyard Store, said in the release. “The Lehigh Valley is a vibrant and growing area and we’re looking forward to being active members of our new community.”
With approximately 10,000 square feet of retail space, Fortunoff Backyard Store’s 28th retail location will feature the company’s extensive line of outdoor and patio furniture and accessories.
Collections include seating and tables in wicker, polymer, teak, cast aluminum and other materials, as well as accessories such as umbrellas, pillows and space heaters, all designed for style, comfort and durability.
Friendly and knowledgeable Backyard Specialists can offer design advice on how to use Fortunoff Backyard furniture to make the most of any outdoor space on any budget, and no interest financing is available.
Fortunoff, with more than two dozen locations in five states, was founded as a home, jewelry and furniture retailer in New York in 1922 by Max and Clara Fortunoff, according to the business’ website.
In September 2009, Fortunoff Brands, LLC and Furniture Concepts, LLC reached an agreement licensing rights to the Fortunoff brand for outdoor furniture and seasonal products in the United States and on the internet.
At that time, Furniture Concepts was a new entity under the management and leadership of Marty Merkur and Bernard Sensale, two former Fortunoff executives.  Isidore Mayrock, a member of the Fortunoff family with 30 years of retail and real estate experience in the Tri-State area, also invested in the new company and joined the board.
“This marks the reintroduction of a proud brand name in a market that has long associated Fortunoff with service and value,” Mayrock said at the time.
The Fortunoff brand returned to the New York/New Jersey market with the opening of seven Fortunoff Backyard Store locations in February 2010.
Today, there are more than two dozen Fortunoff Backyard Stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
“We offer one stop shopping where you can be sure to find the perfect outdoor furniture to match your backyard setting, your entertainment needs, your taste and your budget,” a message on the business’ website reads. “Many of our sets have multiple options of table sizes to ensure the furniture fits your backyard.”
Fortunoff Backyard Store locations offer a wide assortment of high-quality outdoor furniture, including Adirondack chairs, benches, sofas, ottomans, lounge sets and hanging furniture, along with accessories such as cushions, pillows and umbrellas. Other items include fire pits, patio heaters and pool accessories such as floating chaise lounges.
The Fortunoff Backyard Store at Hamilton Crossings, the company’s 28th retail location, will open on April 1 with an opening weekend celebration that includes special events, gifts and promotions, including a Backyard Makeover Giveaway and a partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. Fortunoff Backyard Store will donate furniture to the newly renovated outdoor pavilion at the Lehigh Valley Health Network facility to recognize the tremendous efforts of first responders over the last two years.
“Partnering with Lehigh Valley Health Network reinforces our core value of Fortunoff Backyard Store as a service minded organization,” John Hunewill, vice president of marketing and eCommerce, said in the release. “We take pride in being able to do our part to support those who have given so much to their communities.”
The Lower Macungie store, at 833 N. Krocks Road Suite 104, will have the following hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 610-871-5083 or visit fortunoffbys.com.
